PARENTS AND GRANDPARENTS SPONSORSHIP

Canadian citizens and permanent residents of Canada can bring their parents or grandparents to live permanently in Canada.
There are certain visa requirements for both sponsors and parents/grandparents
​
Potential sponsors must first complete and submit the 'Interest to Sponsor' form online once it becomes available.
Potential sponsors who receive an invitation to submit a sponsorship application will have to submit a complete application package, including supporting documents and fees on or before the specified deadline.
Supporting documents include income tax records, documents relating to civil status, and other materials.
Requirements for Sponsor

Must be 18 years of age or older

Physically reside in Canada

Meet the minimum necessary income level for three consecutive years

Sign a sponsorship agreement to provide financial support for a sponsored relative for a period of 20 years
You may not be eligible to sponsor parent or grandparent if you
​

Received government financial assistance for reasons other than a disability
-
Have declared bankruptcy
-
Failed to provide the financial support to previously sponsored relatives

Were convicted of a serious crime
-
Are currently in prison

Parent/Grandparent must have medical, criminal and background checks
